Whitehouse 14, Nacogdoches 11

WHITEHOUSE – Clayton Cook rushed for 175 yards and scored two touchdowns to help propel the Whitehouse Wildcats to a 14-11 win over the Nacogdoches Golden Dragons on Friday in a District 17-5A football game at Wildcat Stadium.

Whitehouse improves to 5-3 on the season and 2-1 in league play, while Nacogdoches falls to 1-7 and 0-3.

Cook scored on a 34-yard run in the first quarter. Cooper Clemens added the extra point for a 7-0 lead with 2:27 on the clock.

Chris Campos-Gonzalez booted a 30-yard field goal with 4:08 showing in the second quarter to bring the Dragons within 7-3 at halftime.

With 8:05 to go in the fourth quarter, Cook, who had 16 carries on the night, dashed in from six yards for the TD. Clemens’ PAT made it 14-3.



Nacogdoches pulled within three, 14-11, when Jake Smith hit James Sowards for a 15-yard TD. Smith then connected with Sowards for the two-point conversion with 3:48 on the clock.

Whitehouse QB Jacob Clemens threw for 104 yards, while Kendrion Johnson had three catches for 66 yards.

Chad Lathan led Nacogdoches with 79 yards on 14 carries, while Smith threw for 192 yards. Sowards had six catches for 74 yards.

Whitehouse visits Corsicana next Friday, while Nacogdoches plays host to Ennis.
