THE ROOF OF A HOME at Magnolia Drive and Skyline Street in Tyler collapsed in a fire on Wednesday.

Tyler firefighters spent about four hours Wednesday fighting a blaze that destroyed a house in the 1700 block of Magnolia Drive.

Officials said they are not sure what caused the fire at the 80-year-old home, but they are continuing to investigate.

No injuries were reported.

Smoke was visible from several miles for several hours and the Tyler Police Department had traffic blocked to Magnolia Drive, Skyline Street and Sixth Street for hours. Electricity went off in the area for a short time, but was quickly restored by Oncor.

The Tyler Fire Department responded to the structure fire about 8:45 a.m., with five engines, a ladder truck, a district chief and an investigator on scene, according to the department.

The home’s roof collapsed from the flames and there is extensive damage to the entire structure.
