Kristi Beech, of Quitman, Amy Jeffreys, of Hawkins and Jessica Smith, of Quitman, were awarded scholarships in the Power Upward Scholarship contest sponsored by Wood County Electric Cooperative.

Each winner applied with an essay describing their decision to continue their field of study and future goals.

The three awards totaled $6,000 for non-traditional adult learners pursuing post-secondary education.
