APPOINTED

Amanda Reagan was recently named senior vice president of Southside Bank. Ms. Reagan joined Southside Bank in 2008, and is a financial reporting accountant. She is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration. Reagan is a CPA and has over 20 years of accounting experience in the public and private sector.

VETERANS

The Taylor County Mobile Vet Center will provide outreach services to veterans at the East Texas Job Fair and Hiring Event in Tyler from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Armed Forces Reserve Center on 13592 Texas Highway 31 West. Ted Crabtree, plant manager at the Tyler Trane plant, was recently recognized by parent company Ingersoll Rand with a Leadership Award at the company’s Integrated Supply Chain Conference.

REGULATORY

The Texas Bankers Association applauds Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling’s efforts to bring meaningful regulatory relief to community banks through the Financial Choice Act. The Financial Choice Act offers relief to highly capitalized, well-managed banks; improves the accountability of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; demands accountability from financial regulators; ends “Too Big to Fail” and bank bailouts. These are just some of the proposals in the act.

ELDERS

In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Wednesday, Austin Bank is urging older customers and their trusted caregivers to safeguard all personal information and stay alert to the common signs of financial abuse.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was launched on June 15, 2006. Austin Bank, a community bank headquartered in Jacksonville, has been voted one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Texas” for the eighth consecutive year.

BIG GREEN EGG

The Big Green Egg Giveaway began May 25 and runs through June 21 at all Brookshire’s stores. The prize includes a large Big Green Egg outdoor cooker, tropical mahogany large table, a bag of Brookshire’s charcoal and a $50 coupon for Certified Angus Beef products. Total retail value of prize package is $1,958. Customers will earn one chance to win for every dollar they spend on participating products with a Thank You Card. A Power Networking Breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Traditions Restaurant, 6205 S. Broadway Ave. Registration is required as seating is limited. Pay $10 at the door to Traditions.

EXPO

The Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce will spotlight the membership next week during the Inaugural Business Expo. Over 40 chamber member businesses will have displays during the event. Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at E.J. Moss West Campus, 409 Eagle Spirit Drive, the public is invited to come see some of the membership represented at this event. The Better Business Bureau and Ark-La-Tex Shredding will be on hand to shred sensitive documents in conjunction with the business expo. Thanks to Office Barn, Petty’s and Republic Services, guests can enjoy free lunch from noon to 1 p.m. as they visit with businesses and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce.
