A new Love’s Travel Stop that brings 75 jobs to the area opened in Van this week across the street from existing Love’s.

The new travel stop has three restaurants – Chester’s, Arby’s and Godfather’s Pizza – and will feature gourmet coffee, fresh fruit, gift merchandise, name-brand electronics and many other items.

Truck drivers will have 74 truck-parking spaces and seven showers for their needs at the new truck stop, located across the street from the existing Love’s on South Oak Street and Interstate 20.

Although it is unusual to have two stores across from each other, the traffic at the Van store was busy enough to warrant a second store in Van, according to a news release.

The store opened Thursday and an official ribbon cutting is planned for 2 p.m. Aug. 2. Van High School will receive a $2,000 donation from Love’s during the ribbon cutting.
