Students have been moving into the dormitories at Tyler Junior College this week in anticipation of the first day of classes Monday.

An estimated 1,200-plus students chose to live in one of eight residence halls on the main campus in Tyler, according to the school website. Students have been moving in all week, meeting new roommates and neighbors and generally getting acclimated to college life.

For many, it’s their first time away from home. Biology major Madeline Boyd of Houston is one such student. Ms. Boyd said she was “a little bit nervous” on her first time away from home for an extended period. Her family and a friend helped her as she moved in to Crossroads Hall, the newest dormitory on campus, and set about arranging her new living space.
