Winona tops Whitewright

FORNEY – Winona rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to score a 35-28 victory over Whitewright on Friday in a Class 3A Division II regional playoff at City Bank Stadium.
The Wildcats (8-5) advance to face Gunter (13-0) in the state quarterfinals back at City Bank Stadium on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Deundre Wheeler led the Wildcats with 188 yards and a TD on 29 carries. Quinn Johnson added 41 yards and a TD on the ground.
Quarterback Braxton Kincade was 7 of 9 passing for 143 yards and two TD passes to Dakota Pullum.
Kincade also rushed for 38 yards and a rushing TD.
Pablo Tarrango booted five PATs.
Pullum had two receptions for 85 yards, while Keylon Kincade Jr. snagged three catches for 25 yards. Wheeler (1-21) and Tarrango (1-12) also had catches.
Winona now has a chance to advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 1986.
