New ‘Avalon Faire’ opens in Kilgore

A medieval, renaissance and pyratical adventure opened in Kilgore this weekend at the newly-established festival, Avalon Faire.
The festival will kick off the weekend of March 28-29 and held each weekend through April 25-26. Festival hours are Saturdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Avalon Faire will feature entertainment, tent faire vendors, concessionaires and artisians from around the country and world.
In addition, the entertainment will include full-contact Jousting by National Geographic’s “Knights of Mayhem” and bird of prey and falconery demonstrations by “Knightwings,” and a variety of magicians, musicians and jugglers each weekend.
Also planned is an annual School Day on April 10 that will be an educational and cultural experience for area and regional students with hands-on activities. All schools are invited to participate in the Avalon Faire School Day.
“We are excited to see this new festival taking place in the Kilgore area,” said Cindy Morris, Kilgore Chamber president. “The organizers are Renaissance performers and artisans and they are creating an interesting and entertaining event for our region.”
The Avalon Faire festival grounds are located on 1076 FM 1252 W in Kilgore, TX. Admission prices are: Adults $12; Children 4-12 – $6; Children under 4 – Free.
