Softball Roundup: Brook Hill’s Karmen Miller throws no-hitter

BULLARD — Karmen Miller tossed a three-inning no-hitter while striking out nine as the Brook Hill Lady Guard scored a 22-0 win over McKinney Christian on Thursday in a TAPPS Division III District 2 softball game.



Maddie Matheny and Mylee Booth had triples for the Lady Guard with doubles from Miller (2), Gracie Dawson and Landrey McNeel.

Miller and Dawson each had four hits with Menah Harley adding three base knocks. Adding hits were Piper Moore (2), McNeel (2), McKenna Lunceford (1) and Brenna Hill (1).

RBIs were from Miller (4), Dawson (3), Moore (2), McNeel (2), Hill (2), Matheny (2) and Lunceford (1).

Bullard 20, Rusk 3

BULLARD — Denin Boles, Maddi Nix and Dakota Payne all homered and combined for 15 RBI as Bullard coasted to a 20-3 win over Rusk.

Boles doubled, singled and had six RBI. Nix added a single and finished with five RBI, and Payne singled and drove in four. Kirstin Malone added two hits, and Brooklyn Brannen and Baylie Walker both doubled and drove in two runs. Brannen struck out nine and walked three in four innings pitched.

Arabella Heredia had two hits and an RBI for Rusk. Kennzie Norton added two hits, Riley Collins a double and an RBI and Aubrey Hassel a single and an RBI.

Whitehouse 5, Longview 0

WHITEHOUSE — Grace Ann McDonald threw a shutout while striking out seven in leading the Whitehouse Ladycats to a 5-0 win over Longview on Thursday in a District 15-5A softball game.

The Ladycats improve to 19-6-1 overall and 7-1 in district. The Lady Lobos fall to 4-14 and 1-7.

McDonald allowed seven hits and did not walk a batter.

Kate Jones led WHS with three hits, with one each from Cami Laney (double), McDonald, Laney Crawford, Sierra Channel and Paige Goodell.

Crawford and McDonald each had two RBIs with one from Jones.

Jadasia Mims had two singles, and Bella Ervin doubled in the loss for Longview. Ervin struck out one and walked three in six innings pitched.

Longview is scheduled to host Mount Pleasant at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Whitehouse is scheduled to visit Marshall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Pine Tree 12, Texas High 0

TEXARKANA — Taylor Burkhart tossed a two-hitter over five innings, striking out nine and issuing no walks as Pine Tree romped to a 12-0 win over Texas High.

Laney Schroeder doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, and Gabby Thomas, Rhi Black, Nia Woodson and E.K. Holder all drove in two runs for the Lady Pirates. Mo Rougely had three hits. Burkart added two hits, and Thomas and Holder doubled. Lakyn Elliott chipped in with a single and an RBI.

Hallsville 12, Marshall 2

HALLSVILLE — Maci Shirley tripled twice, singled and drove in two runs, Heidi Hart banged out four hits — including a double — and added two RBI and the Hallsville Ladycats earned a 12-2 win over Marshall.

Lindsey Dubberly tripled, singled and doubled, driving in two runs. Makena Ellis had a triple, single and two RBI, and Sara Houston chipped in with a double, single and two RBI. Audrey Jones also added a double and two singles for Hallsville to back a solid outing in the circle by Dubberly. She struck out eight and walked two in six innings.

Makayla Jones doubled and drove in two runs in the loss for Marshall. Claire Godwin walked one and allowed five earned runs in five innings.

Mount Pleasant 21, Tyler 0

Lakyn Fortenberry and Ella Cross both homered, combining to drive in seven runs, and the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers won 21-0 over the Tyler Lady Lions at the THS diamond.

Fortenberry drove in four runs, and Cross collected three RBI for the Lady Tigers. Jordan Batchelor tripled, doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs. Conlee Zachry added a triple, two singles and two RBI. Kaylee Silman singled and drove in two runs, and Casey Jones had two hits and an RBI. Kelsey Howard also chipped in with two hits for the Lady Tigers, and Jones struck out six with no walks and one hit allowed in three innings pitched.

The Lady Lions fall to 4-20 overall and 0-8 in District 15-5A. The Lady Tigers are 18-8-1 and 7-1.

Tyler is scheduled to visit Texas High at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Mount Pleasant is scheduled to visit Longview at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Center 9, Kilgore 6

KILGORE — Gabby Whisenant doubled twice, Kasandra Moreno added two singles and the Center Lady Roughriders rallied for a 9-6 win over Kilgore.

Sayre Hall doubled for Center, and Whisenant, Moreno, Azul Figueroa, Lauren Causey, Kelia DeLa Cruz, May Johnson and Julie Bird all drove in runs. Autumn Bennett struck out five with no walks in 6.2 innings.

Eva Ray doubled, singled twice and drove in a run, Thaiona Moore added a double, single and two RBI and Karsyn Stover singled and drove in two runs for Kilgore. Addison Pierson chipped in with an RBI. Moore Struck out five and walked five in seven innings pitched.

Gilmer 5, Henderson 2

GILMER — Alexis Kemp struck out 12 with four walks in seven innings, Jayna Rucker homered and drove in three runs and the Gilmer Lady Buckeyes notched a 5-2 win over Henderson.

Livi Brown added a double and an RBI, and Brie Jones singled and drove in a run for Gilmer.

KK Brooks tripled once and singled three times, and Addy Standley had a double, single and two RBI in the loss for Henderson. Jayda Brown chipped in with two singles. Chlie Ellis struck out 12, walked one and allowed one earned run in five innings pitched.

Harmony 12, MPCH 9

HARMONY — Krystin Spence, Hannah Martin and Maecy Toland all drove in two runs for Harmony as the Lady Eagles held on for a 12-9 win over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill.

Spence finished with three hits, and Toland tripled. Kara Schoon, Evie Helpenstill and Madison Favela all drove in runs, with Helpenstill adding a double. Toland struck out seven and walked seven in seven innings.
