Studio Movie Grill will celebrate its grand opening Thursday to coincide with the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Studio Movie Grill, in the Village at Cumberland Park at 8954 S. Broadway Ave., is a 12-screen movie theater with a complete dining experience.

“The Studio Movie Grill is so much more than movies,” said CEO and founder Brian Schultz. “We offer one-stop destinations for dining, entertainment and a welcoming place to meet with friends and family. We’re a great choice for both special occasions and a simple night out.”

Movie-goers can relax in leather seating, while watching first-run movies, and can be served with a full American grill menu and premium bar directly at their seats, at the push of a button.

The facility had a “soft” opening over the weekend.

“This past weekend, SMG hosted its signature communitywide Cans Film Festival Food Drive,” the company said in a release. “Moviegoers who donated three or more canned goods or non-perishable food items received a free ticket to any movie that day. Tyler residents who turned out to fill the containers benefited the very grateful East Texas Food Bank.”

Studio Movie Grill also has announced alternative programming events. They include:

— Girls Night Out — Favorite chick flicks every second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. with all tickets $3 each. The series begins on Wednesday, May 13 with “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

— Family Rewind — Every third Wednesday and Sunday of the month, this series gives patrons the opportunity to start a new family tradition by sharing all-time favorite movies with their children. This program begins on May 20 with “The Lego Movie” at 7 p.m.Tickets are also $3.

— SMG Toons! — The entire family can enjoy a series of popular cartoons every Saturday and Sunday morning at 11 a.m. for $3 per ticket.

— SMG Children’s Summer Series — rolls out June 8 with “Madagascar.” Tickets are $3 all summer. The screenings will be held Monday through Friday at 11 a.m.
