Troop 225 of the Dog Scouts of America took to Faulkner Park for an Easter Egg Hunt. More than a dozen people came out with about 20 dogs to enjoy the sun and snag some treats.

Eggs with cheese or cat food were hidden in the grass for the dogs to sniff out. Natalie Fletcher, founder of Troop 225 set up the event.

“We’ve been meeting every Sunday here at Faulkner at the trail head,” Fletcher said. “We do a little training, and we hike. … It gives the dogs a chance to socialize because so many times your dogs are warehoused in the back yard and they don’t get to meet other dogs and realize it isn’t a fight or flight situation.”

Dog Scouts of America was founded 1995. Tyler troop 225 was formed three years ago because of Fletcher’s desire to take her dogs, Angus and Xena, on vacation with her.

There is a national membership fee, but the Tyler troop does not charge for its meetings.
