Palestine man hits child with car

PALESTINE (KYTX) — The Palestine Police Department is continuing the investigation into an incident that left a 5-year-old child in serious condition.

On March 29, 2015 shortly before 9 p.m., officers from the Palestine Police Department were dispatched to the 200 Block of Victory Street after receiving a report that a child had been hit by a vehicle. Police arrived on the scene and found that the child had been taken to the Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment. The child was taken to the PRMC by his father in a private vehicle.



During the investigation police were advised that the child was playing at a residence in the 200 block of Victory Street. Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as 45 year old Adrian Troy Gaston of Palestine, was leaving a gathering at this location when Gaston’s vehicle ran over the child. Witnesses also told police that Gaston left the scene before police arrived.

Officers were able to locate Mr. Gaston at his residence in the 3000 block of North Jackson Street. Gaston was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Gaston is being held in the Anderson County Jail on $25,000 bond set by Justice of the Peace Carl Davis.

The 5 year old victim was transfered from Palestine to a Dallas area hospital. The victim was lsited in serious but stable condition.
