Fire Mountain Amusements, a Tyler landmark on Texas Highway 155 South, announced its closure on Facebook on Friday.

“We are sad to announce that we are no longer open,” the amusement park’s Facebook posting read. “The park has a possible pending sale. Stay tuned with the local news stations with updates about the possibility of the park reopening. Thank you to all of our customers who supported us over the years. But again we will no longer be open at this time.”

Popular with church and youth groups, Fire Mountain most recently hosted the Li’l Wranger event for the Cattle Barons’ Gala committee, for area pediatric cancer patients and their guests.

A call placed to Fire Mountain on Friday night was not returned.
