AgriLife extension program can help with meal planning

Do you hear the same question every day – What’s for dinner? Are you tired of cooking the same meals every week? Are you interested in trying new recipes, but not sure where to start. If so, I have some ideas that can help you.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has a website you will love, dinnertonight.tamu.edu. This website has quick, healthy, cost-effective recipes and video demonstrations. The site is a great resource for anyone, especially busy families. Once you check out the recipes and video demonstrations, you will want to see more. You can receive a weekly update from the site by entering your email address, zip code and name.

Another way to add some new recipes to your weekly menu is to check out the Dinner Tonight booth at the East Texas Yamboree in Gilmer on Oct. 16. There will be recipe demonstrations every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The recipes will be from the “2015 Dinner Tonight Cookbook,” based on the Mediterranean meal plan. FCS agents from East Texas will demonstrate the recipes and provide taste samples.

To make the event even more special, celebrity chef Alise Nolan will demonstrate a recipe. She manages her own cooking website, “The Ranch Kitchen.” She and her family raise Hereford cattle and show them across the state and nation. She comes from a long line of wonderful country cooks and enjoys sharing her recipes.

All participants at the Dinner Tonight booth will receive a goody bag. For $10, participants will receive three cookbooks as well as one chance to win a “Cooking with Beef” gift basket valued at $150.
