Trinity Valley Community College received the second-highest position among Texas community colleges in a new ranking released by SmartAsset.com, a blog published by the Huffington Post. TVCC ranks #16 nationally on their list of the 100 Best Community Colleges in the U.S.

The rankings are based on graduation and transfer rate, the percentage of full-time students who earned a degree or transferred to a four-year institution; salary-cost ratio, the ratio of the median starting salary of graduates to the full cost of attendance; in-state tuition cost; and student-faculty ratio.

ADULT EDUCATION

Trinity Valley Community College’s Adult Education Department has been awarded the Accelerate TX Integrated Education and Training grant from the Texas Workforce Commission totaling almost $165,000 to fund the Student Opportunities through Accelerated Resources (SOAR) project, according to a news release.

The purpose of the project is to extend adult education and literacy programs to include training in certified nurse aide, commercial driver’s license and welding, occupations identified as high-demand industries in the TVCC service area. Other training disciplines may also be offered.

The focus of the project is on increasing enrollment and participation for educationally disadvantaged, unemployed and underemployed adults interested in career-path employment and post-secondary education. TVCC is the only adult education provider in their workforce development area to receive the grant, and will work with Workforce Solutions Centers and other collaborators as partners.
