Microchipping is a permanent identification for a pet if it becomes lost. The microchip alone does not ensure that pets will be protected; it must also be properly registered.
“Microchipping pets helps to reduce shelter overcrowding and lower euthanasia rates,” said Director of Animal Services Shawn Markmann. “A microchip also greatly improves a pet’s chances of being returned to its owner.”
Interested pet owners can bring their furry friends to the Tyler Animal Shelter at 4218 Chandler Hwy between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until supplies last.
