NEW HIRE
Austin Bank has announced that Millette Stroud has joined the bank as vice president and lender in their Whitehouse office. Stroud previously worked as a commercial lender for BancorpSouth. She has also held lending and management positions at the Tyler and Whitehouse offices of Regions Bank. A native of East Texas, Stroud is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, attended Tyler Junior College, and is a 2015 graduate of the American Bankers Association of National Commercial Lending School at SMU and the Leadership Tyler Class 26.

RECOGNITION
James E. Smith, P.E., of Tyler, was recently recognized by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers for outstanding service to the State of Texas as a professional engineer for over 50 years. Smith also was recognized as a member of the Legion of Honor by the Society of Petroleum Engineers for more than 50 years’ continuous membership in the SPE. The Society of Petroleum Engineers also awarded a certificate to Smith that he has achieved recognition under the SPE Petroleum Engineering Certification Program on June 29.

Carpenter will be responsible for furthering longtime client relationships, providing customized service for current accounts and marketing and developing new and future business. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance from Texas State University.

GROUND-BREAKING
Altra Federal Credit Union will host a ground breaking at 1 p.m. Thursday at 8976 S. Broadway Ave. in The Village at Cumberland Park.
The new branch will feature SAM, Altra’s Smart deposit-taking ATM in the lobby and 24-hour Drive Up. Members will be able to use self-serve technology and iPads located in the branch to access their accounts and do transactions. WiFi and a coffee bar also are available to members.

DONATIONS
Through Dec. 22, all Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods and Fresh by Brookshire’s stores throughout Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items, which will be donated to local service organizations and food pantries for distribution. Customers may also purchase pre-assembled “grab bags” for $5 or scan coupons for $1 or $5, which will be used to purchase additional food items.
The goal is to provide a week’s worth of food to approximately 15,000 families throughout BGC’s market area. Families will receive a box of non-perishable food items such as canned vegetables, rice and pasta, as well as a coupon for a free roasting hen.
