The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce has recently celebrated multiple ribbon cuttings in April and has several scheduled for the remainder of the month.

NerdsToGo recently celebrated its ribbon cutting on April 11. 

This Tyler business is an IT services franchise that provides a simple path to overcoming the pain points and complexities of technology. It officially opened its doors in October under the direction of Alex Piseth. 

Originally from Cambodia, Piseth has been a Tyler resident for 10 years and formerly owned a local donut business. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Staffordshire University, as well as a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler.

“Piseth has loved technology and fixing computers since he was in high school, and he purchased NerdsToGo because he truly wanted to help people solve their technology problems,” the company stated in a press release. “Now, he wants to grow from being the IT guy for his friends and family to becoming the IT guy for the city of Tyler. This young veteran business owner enjoys spending time with family and friends, and even when he isn’t on the clock, he makes time to help family members and friends with their technology needs.

Piseth’s family, including his grandfather who was a teacher, encouraged him to serve from a young age. He looks forward to creating more peace of mind for local businesses and community members through offering a variety of technology services.

“For me, it’s not just about profit but helping people with their technology challenges — that’s my passion,” Piseth said. 

NerdsToGo of Tyler is located at 2230 W. Grande Blvd. Suite 101 in Tyler. Operating hours are from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Hope Haven of East Texas

Hope Haven of East Texas, a ministry caring for children in foster care since 2018, opened a new Child Placing Agency called Rekindle.

This agency, led by administrator Anna Thomas and treatment director Whitney Browning, will specialize in licensing foster families as treatment homes that are trained to care for children and teenagers who have experienced trauma and may have significant behavioral, mental health, or primary medical needs.

Rekindle comes as the East Texas region is faced with a foster care shortage. There are 1,500 children and teenagers in foster care daily in East Texas, and there are only enough placement options for 15% of the teenagers within the region. Teenagers in foster care commonly experience trauma from abuse, neglect, and other adverse situations, resulting in additional care needs. Rekindle will focus on training and supporting foster families to care for these children and teenagers.

“At Rekindle we are passionate about caring for our children right here in East Texas,” Anna Thomas said. “Our goal is to provide a loving home for any child that needs one. We are excited to start this journey.”
