DALLAS (AP) — Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones says he is not ready for the NFL.

In just his third career start, the 22-year-old third-year sophomore helped the Buckeyes beat Oregon 42-20 on Monday night to win the College Football Playoff national championship game.

Jones is eligible for early entry to the NFL draft. The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Thursday.

Jones says it is “odd” to be facing this decision and that he still needs to have a conversation for Ohio State coach Urban Meyer about it.

At a news conference Tuesday morning, Jones said: “In my personal opinion, I’m not ready for that level yet.”
