HOUSTON (AP) – A 30-year-old woman has been found guilty for slamming her SUV into a Harris County sheriff’s patrol car, killing a deputy last year.

Kelly Jo Ivey was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter Thursday. According to authorities, Ivey was driving near Baytown on Oct. 28, 2014, when she crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the patrol car of 32-year-old Jesse Valdez III.

Valdez was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Ivey faces 15 years to life in prison.
