Baseball series moves to UT Tyler

UT Tyler’s Ethan Bedgood connects for one of his four singles on Tuesday in the Patriots’ game with Southern Arkansas at Irwin Field.

UT Tyler’s baseball series with Arkansas-Fort Smith has been moved from Fort Smith, Arkansas to the Rose City, school officials announced.

It was moved to Tyler due to the weather forcast in the Fort Smith area.



The Patriots will be the visiting team in all four games.

A doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday with the first game set to begin at 1 p.m. Game 2 will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1. Both games will be seven innings.

Friday’s nine-inning game is slated to begin at 10 a.m.

On Saturday, the nine-inning game is set to start at noon.

UT Tyler is 26-19 overall and 26-18 in the Lone Star Conference. The Lions are 21-23 overall and also in the LSC.

On Tuesday, the Patriots dropped a 9-3 non-conference game to Southern Arkansas at Irwin Field.

The Muleriders (27-16) broke open a tight game by scoring six runs in the eighth inning.

Ethan Bedgood had four of the Patriots’ 13 hits. Kyle Atkinson had two base knocks.

Kaston Mason had a double with singles from Nathan Carriere, Lane Hutchinson, Lane Epperson, Austin Ochoa, Jordan Ardoin and Connor Clark.

RBIs were from Carriere, Ardoin and Hayden Clearman. Scoring runs were Atkinson, Ochoa and Mason.

Brandon Nicoll had a double and homer to lead Southern Arkansas. Clay Burrows had a double with Trace Shoup getting three hits.
