UT Tyler wins cross country meet

Both the UT Tyler men’s and women’s cross country teams captured the UT Tyler Invitational on a warm Friday night. The race was the first full-team race for the men, while the women were running in their second race of the season.

For the women, freshman Brittany Brunson ran a time of 20 minutes and 37.33 seconds, finishing second behind LeTourneau’s Nicole Leman who ran a 19:21.68.

Senior Baylee Talaska also had a top-10 finish, running a 21:20.28, good enough for sixth-place, while teammate Missy Hebert finished a place behind after running a 21:29.23.

Meagan Whetstone, Christian Rowlands, Susan Hudson and Jennifer Cook all finished with top-30 times, to help the team to a first-place finish.

The University of Dallas finished second in the team competition, while LeTourneau, UT Tyler Alumni and Texas Dallas rounded out the top-five.



The UT Tyler men also had an impressive showing for the race, placing seven runners in the top-15.

Nicklas Huff won first-place for the men, running a 16:23.82, while teammate Will Krogman finished third with a time of 16;40.30.

Newcomer Jason Hamilton finished fourth in the race (16:45.50), while teammates Conner Benson and Alex Wilson finished in fifth and sixth with times of 16:46.66 and 16:48.14 respectively.

Matthew Markert and Cesar Rodriguez helped the Patriots to the top spot, both placing in the top-13 for the race.

The UT Tyler alumni finished in second-place in the team competition, while LeTourneau, University of Dallas and ETBU finished off the top-five.
