UT Tyler sweeps VB matches

UT Tyler scored two wins on Friday in the UT Tyler Volleyball Invitational at the Herrington Patriot Center.

In the first match, the Patriots defeated Texas College 3-0 with sophomore Stacey Wilson leading the way for the Patriots, racking up 15 kills for the match.



For the match, Wilson finished with 15 kills and one block, while Madison Kosir finished with 28 assists.

In the second match of the day, the Patriots defeated Hendrix 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 in a three-game sweep.

In set one, the Patriots totaled 10 kills, led by Rachael Harvey’s four, leading UT Tyler to a 25-18 win.

The Patriots won by the same margin in set two, behind sophomore Breanna Brummett’s six kills.

UT Tyler was able to put the Warriors away in set three, winning 25-20.

Brummett finished the match with a team-high 12 kills in 24 total attempts while Harvey finished with nine kills in 24 attempts.

Emily Wood, the preseason American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year finished the day with 28 total digs, including 22 in the match against Hendrix.

The Patriots will continue their run in the tournament on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against Millsaps, followed by their final match of the day against Centenary at 2:30.
