Quitman rallies past T.K. Gorman

The T.K. Gorman Crusaders raced to 14-0 first-quarter advantage, but Quitman rallied behind four rushing touchdowns and two passing scores to win 44-34 on Friday night at McCallum Stadium.
Andre Thompson rushed for 166 yards and passed for 215 more for the Bulldogs.
The Crusaders were led on the offensive side by Caleb Williams totaling 234 yards on 21 carries and three touchdowns.
With the score 28-20 in the waning seconds of the first half, Gorman pulled out a halfback pass and Williams hooked up with tight end Conrad Flowers with a 68-yard touchdown pass, but the pass play was called back by illegal formation and the score remained 28-20.
In the third period, Gorman’s defense held and the Bulldog defense forced a fumble.
Thompson heaved a pass to Ethan Callahan and the ball bounced into the hands of Macawley Morrow and for 58 yards for a touchdown and a 28-28 tie with 7:34 left in the third period.
Gorman drove to the Bulldog 35-yard line before Quitman stopped the Crusaders on fourth-and-8.
Two plays later Thompson went 58 yards on the ground and Jesus Ramirez added the two-point conversion to make it 36-28.
Gorman rushed for 425 yards.
