Teague, Malakoff beat Sabine

LIBERTY CITY — After falling behind 13-0, the Malakoff Tigers used four Sabine turnovers to fuel a turnaround 35-13 win Friday.

The Cardinals early lead came on touchdown runs of 2 yards by Collin Gray and 11 yards by Bryan Chumley.



Coming off a 9-2 season and expected to challenge for the District 11-2A title.

Quarterback Jacob Teague, who finished last season with more than 2,000 yards of offense and 23 touchdowns, brought the Tigers back with two second quarter scores on runs of five and 41 yards. Malakoff took a 21-13 lead into halftime on a 59-yard pass from Teague to Kash Armstrong.

Sabine’s turnover problems, the Cardinal put the ball on the ground six times, resulted in a 22-yard fourth-quarter fumble recovery for a touchdown by Dariuhn Jackson.
