University of North Texas running back Brandin Byrd has been selected as The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the eleventh week of the college football season.

The Conference USA running back turned in a career best performance with 18 carries for 202 yards and two touchdowns in the Mean Green’s win over UTEP 41-7. Coach Dan McCarney said, “You love to see the consistency from Brandin Byrd, he is one of the most unselfish guys we have. He’s one of the toughest players, one of the most respected players we have in this program.”

The win makes North Texas bowl eligible for the first time since 2004. The win also keeps North Texas atop the Conference USA West-Division standings with an overall record of 7-3 and a conference record of 5-1, half a game up on Rice.

Byrd is a graduate of Copperas Cove High School.
