October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Simon Property Group, Inc. is marking the occasion at Broadway Square Mall with “Paint the Mall Pink.”

The community-based program will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday and will feature educational displays, health fairs, retailer offerings, a fashion show and other special events and activities that promote women’s health.

The national sponsor for “Paint the Mall Pink” is Puffs Fresh Faces, a product of Little Busy Bodies. Local sponsors include Randall Noe Fiat, Suddenlink, Complete Nutrition, Allstate, American Cancer Society, Northeast Texas Public Health District, Susan G. Cornerstone Brokerage LLC has two new agents. Ashley Hargett, of Tyler, attended Texas A&M University for a degree in communication and journalism. She is on Brad Newberry’s team at Cornerstone. Diane Hodge came to Tyler 27 years ago and earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology at The University of Texas at Tyler. She will be working at Cornerstone on Andy Guinn’s team.

 

RE-ELECTED

LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford was re-elected to the board of directors of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas. Lunsford also was elected to serve as the board secretary. Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas is a nonprofit that has served for more than 40 years. 

 

CERTIFICATE

The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors honored Collin W. Phaup, agency owner of Goosehead Insurance in Tyler, with a certificate of achievement, recognizing five consecutive years of active affiliation with the society. PROMOTION

Southwest Bancorp, Inc., parent company to Stillwater National Bank, announced the promotion of Tyler native Jamie Johnson to vice president and internal audit manager. She joined the bank in 2004. She will be responsible for the oversight of the Internal Audit department and its staff, will facilitate external auditors and examiners and participate in corporate Enterprise Risk Management.

 

REACCREDITED

East Texas Medical Center’s inpatient rehabilitation program for adults has been reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. ETMC has had continuous three year accreditations since 1989.

 

SPEAKER

On Sept. 27, Ashley Kutach, director of training and development for Core Insights, spoke at the state conference for the Texas Merchandise Vending Association in Fredericksburg on “Dealing with Your Blind Spots.” Core Insights provides training and guidance for many organizations and individuals.

 

CERTIFICATION

Diann Darden, with Keller Williams Realty, earned the nationally recognized Military Relocation Professional Certification. Realtors who earn the certification know how to work with active duty military buyers and sellers, as well as veterans.

 

ACCOUNTANTS

Squyres, Johnson, Squyres announced that Linda Roman and Robert “Trey” S. Forester, III joined the firm as staff accountants. Ms. Roman graduated from the University of Texas in July and is currently working on her master’s degree. Forester is a graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler. He began his career in Palestine with a local CPA.

RECOGNIZED

Lee Travers, Lance Browning and Ali Cantua-Phillips, independent financial advisors at Income Solutions Wealth Management, were recognized as top financial advisors and named to the LPL Financial Patriot’s Club. APPOINTMENTS

Citizens National Bank announced several promotions and new hires.

Cliff Smith was promoted to vice president. Smith has served as a lender and in the credit department in the Chandler branch during his five-year employment.

Carlos Padron was promoted to assistant vice president and branch manager of the Malakoff location. He has been the lead consumer lender at the Athens branch since 2007.

Matt Tyler joined the bank as a vice president and commercial lender for the Athens and Palestine markets, where he will split his time as needed.

Jennifer Morrison joined the bank as a banking officer and mortgage lender in the Athens branch. She has experience from the Dallas Metroplex banking industry in credit and loan operations.

 

DELEGATE

Ruby Tomlin, with the accounting firm Gollob Morgan Peddy, was a delegate to CPAmerica International’s 2013 Firm Administration Roundtable held in Philadelphia last week. The annual event sponsored by CPAmerica brings together firm administrators from member firms across the U.S. for networking, member sharing and continuing professional education. Gollob Morgan Peddy is a member of CPAmerica, one of the largest associations of independent accounting firms.

 

CONFERENCE

Bob Renicker, senior vice president of investments with Wells Fargo Advisors in Tyler, attended the firm’s Higher Education Conference at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The conference gives the firm’s top advisors the opportunity to learn from leading professors and industry professionals. Renicker has been a financial advisor for more than 21 years and has worked at Wells Fargo for almost seven years. He has a Bachelor of Science in general business administration and a Master of Business Administration in economics from Louisiana Tech University.
