Brook Hill advances to state softball championship

ARLINGTON — Landrey McNeel hit a home run and Karmen Miller tossed a three-hitter as the Brook Hill Guard defeated Dallas Christian, 11-1, on Friday to advance to the TAPPS Division III state softball championship.
The Guard advances to meet Houston Cypress Christian in the state championship game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Alan Saxe Field on the campus of UT Arlington. It is the second straight year for Brook Hill to play in the championship game.

Cypress Christian defeated San Antonio Holy Cross, 23-12, in the other semifinal.
Miller pitched all five innings. She gave up one hit and had 10 strikeouts while not walking a batter.
Along with McNeel’s homer, Maddie Matheny had two triples. Miller and Piper Moore added doubles.
Matheny also had a single for three hits and six RBIs.
Moore and Miller each had three hits with one each from Menah Harley, Gracie Dawson, Mylee Booth and Blair Brister.
Other RBIs were by Miller (3), Moore (1) and McNeel (1).

Scoring runs were Moore (4), Harley (2), Miller (2), McNeel (1), Dawson (1) and Brister (1).
Clara Hamil had a triple for the Chargers with doubles from Breanna Finneran and Chloe Rodriguez.
Rodriguez drove in Finneran.
Brook Hill had lost both District 2 games to Dallas Christian (4-1, 6-1).
