Robert E. Lee senior forward Lumi Kaba was a finalist for the NSCAA High School Player of the Week.
The NSCAA, or National Soccer Coaches Association of America, chose Kaba as a finalist based on his performance two weeks ago for the Red Raiders when he scored four goals and had two assists in their two games.
Thus far Kaba is on pace to shatter the school’s single-season scoring record (25) with the senior already netting 19 goals in REL’s 13 games.
Kaba was one of three finalists, along with Mason Wilson of St. Thomas High School in Houston and Dan Glascock, midfielder from Acalanes High School (Lafayette, Calif.) Glascock ended up being chosen for the award after leading his team to an undefeated season and district championship with four goals and three assists in his last games.
The NSCAA High School Player of the Week program is designed to highlight the future stars of the game. Anyone can nominate a player, however only players whose coach is a current NSCAA member are eligible for selection. Honorees will be announced on Wednesdays.
Lee (4-0, 12 pts) is undefeated in District 12-5A through four games and will next be in action Tuesday on the road against North Mesquite. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Berry Middle School Field in Mesquite.
