Tyler is getting a second Tractor Supply store.

Construction of the company’s 144th farm and ranch supply store in Texas is under way in Tyler, at 13641 Texas Highway 110 South.

“Tractor Supply looks forward to being a member of the southeast Tyler community,” district manager Karleen Henry said in a statement. “Tyler is a great fit due to the part-time and hobby farmers, and horse owners in the area. And many of our new customers are surprised to find we also offer pet supplies and clothing items for the entire family.”

Stephanie Winn, spokeswoman for Tractor Supply Co., said the soft opening of the new 19,097-square-foot store is tentatively set for mid-May.

“Tractor Supply Co. is excited about being a new member of the Tyler business community,” she said.

As a growth-minded company, Tractor Supply always is looking for potential new store locations that are a good fit as far as the target market is concerned, she said.

The store will employ between 12 and 17 full-time and part-time team members. It will include sales floor and support service space. A fenced exterior space will be used for storage and displaying items such as fencing, sprayers and livestock equipment.

The contractor for the project, Bingham Construction, of Marble Falls, began construction Feb. 3 and is expected to complete it in May.

Tractor Supply is the largest retail farm and ranch supply store chain in the United States and operates more than 1,245 stores in 48 states, representatives said. It has had stores in Texas since 1950.

Its stores are focused on supplying the lifestyle needs of recreational farmers and ranchers. The company also serves the maintenance needs of those who enjoy the rural lifestyle, as well as tradesmen and small businesses.

The company offers merchandise for the health, care, growth and containment of horses, livestock and pets including agricultural products, tools and hardware.

The company also sells light truck equipment, work clothing and seasonal products including lawn and garden power equipment products.
