Grace cruises past Shelton, 51-6

PLANO — Jonny Spitzer returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown, scored twice rushing and once receiving to help Grace Community thrash Dallas Shelton 51-6 on Friday.
Spitzer finished with 90 yards on five receptions and 54 yards on five rushes.
Christopher Wilhelmi threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns for the Cougars (7-2, 4-1 TAPPS D-II District 2), who maintained their spot in a three-way tie for first. Wilhelmi completed 14 of 16 passes and led touchdown drives on all six of his series.
Zach Tatman needed just 12 carries to hit 130 yards, including one score. He and Chris McCloud both caught receiving touchdowns.
Despite the large final margin, the Cougars only led 7-6 after one quarter. They broke it open in the second quarter for a 35-6 advantage at halftime.
Grace scored 13 points in the third quarter and tacked on a 42-yard field goal by Jacob Williams in the final quarter to secure the win.
The Cougars increased their scoring average to 43.7 points per game with their fourth straight win, all by at least 30 points.
Grace kept pace with fellow league leaders Bullard Brook Hill and Dallas Christian. The Cougars are in a three-way tie for first heading into the final week. Grace will play rival Bishop Gorman in the final game.
