Rescue mission completes shelter expansion

The Hiway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview recently celebrated the completion of a $900,000 expansion of the Women and Families Shelter.
The project has doubled the number of beds available to mothers and children and given families a separate living area, according to a mission news release.

Women without children will continue to stay in the mission’s original shelter facility.
The Hiway 80 Rescue Mission is a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter for men, women and families who are homeless and in need of help.
The Rev. Dr. Tony Evans, of Dallas, will be the keynote speaker at The Brook Hill School’s annual Founders Day Celebration on Oct. 13.
Evans is a pastor, best-selling author and frequent speaker at Bible conferences, crusades and seminars nationwide, according to a Brook Hill news release.

He has served as the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship for more than 35 years and is president of The Urban Alternative, a national ministry that aims to bring about spiritual renewal in America through the church.

He serves as chaplain for the Dallas Mavericks.
