MAKER: Surface Equipment Corp. (SEC) in Kilgore

OWNER: The company, established in 1985, announced this week that a group of primarily local investors purchased the company from its Italian owner. Longview native Stephen I. McLemore, who has been president of SEC since 2010, led the group of investors, who have extensive knowledge in the oil and gas industry. The acquisition will be a positive step for continued growth and success of the company, McLemore said in a statement. New expansions and additions are in the planning stages, which will allow Surface Equipment to provide its customers with better service and enhanced capabilities, he said.

PRODUCTS: SEC is a leading provider of ASME Code-certified custom engineered process and production equipment for the domestic and international oil and gas industry. With a full engineering staff, the company designs, fabricates and tests a wide range of products, with special emphasis on the production of pressure vessels and process equipment, including scrubbers, dehydration systems, two- and three-phase separation equipment, slug catchers, sand separators, amine systems and piping tools. Fabrication capabilities include fit-up, cutting, welding, grinding, post weld heat treat, pipe work, structural, blasting, painting, hydro and assembly. Its process systems are used in downstream, midstream and upstream processing applications and can be fabricated as skid-mounted modules or loose systems.
