The team title win is TCU’s first since the tennis championship began in 1946.

It was the fourth meeting this season between the teams as they split the regular season before Texas defeated TCU in the Big 12 Championship title match. The national title win was the eighth meeting in a championship dual meet between the two programs with the Horned Frogs taking both the NCAA Indoor Championship and Big 12 Championship in 2023.

TCU struck first and tallied the doubles point after wins on the top two doubles courts. Jack Pinnington and Sebastian Gorzny earned a 6-3 result on the second court over Micah Braswell and Eshan Talluri before Jake Fearnley and Pedro Vives ended the doubles portion at No. 1 with a 6-4 score (over Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab).

Lui Maxted extended the Horned Frogs lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on the fourth court (Pierre-Yves Bailly) before Texas rattled off three consecutive victories to take a 3-2 lead.

Gilles-Arnaud Bailly put the Longhorns on the board first with a 6-2, 6-1 showing on the No. 3 court (Vives) followed by Cleeve Harper on the No. 6 court (6-3, 6-2 over Tomas Jirousek). Micah Braswell gave UT the lead with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 performance on the No. 2 court (Fearnley).

TCU’s Pinnington evened the score again with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 match on the No. 1 court (Spizzirri) to turn all eyes to the fifth court. Gorzny ended the match with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Jonah Braswell to win the national title for the Horned Frogs.
