The temperatures were a bit cooler and the wind was gusting, but the Azaleas were still in bloom as the junior golfers converged on the Rose City to hit the links.

After the first round of the 13th Annual Azalea Trail Junior Golf Classic, a couple of Tylerites and another youngster just down the road in Chandler were atop the leaderboard at Hollytree Country Club.

Tyler Lee teammates Scott Skrocki and Annaka Watts were leading as well as Sidney Robertson of Chandler.

The second and final round of the Classic is scheduled for Sunday as the golfers are slated to tee off on No. 1 from 8 to 11:15 a.m.

Skrocki, who recently fired a 66 at Hide-A-Way Lake Club’s course, is tied for the lead in the Boys 15-18 division with Dallas’ Pierce Johnson. Both carded 1-over 73s on the Hollytree course. One stroke behind is Troup’s Jake Smelser (2-over 74). There are 32 golfers in the field.
