DALLAS — Former Tyler Legacy running back Jamarion (Jam) Miller is entering his third season at the University of Alabama.

Miller — a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022 — has carried the ball 74 times for 424 yards and three touchdowns. He’s also caught five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Miller had a 28-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Jalen Milroe in a 27-24 win over Georgia in the 2023 SEC Championship Game.

“I will say he’s hungry, never complacent,” Milroe said on Wednesday during SEC Media Days. “He’s a guy that’s very quiet, but his success makes noise. With how hard he grinds in the offseason. It’s been special to see him working, putting his head down and work. Now, he’s an upperclassman. Before, he was an underclassman, but he’s an upperclassman now.

“To see his development and to see how much he loves the game of football. He’s a Texas kid, so we share something in common. We have a great relationship. I’m super glad that he stayed grounded and continued to get better because he’s doing a really a good job for us.”

Offensive lineman Tyler Booker, who blocks for Miller up front, also was at SEC Media Days and spoke highly of the former Red Raider.

“Jam is one of my closest friends,” Booker said. “He, Malachi (Moore) and I all went on vacation on the Fourth of July to Destin, Florida. We had a great time. I’m very excited to see him get a majority of the runs because he’s a great running back. He’s earned that.”

“Jam is kind of a lead-by-example type of person,” said Moore, a defensive back for the Crimson Tide. “He really doesn’t say much. He’s almost like a silent assassin, but he leads by example. You see how hard he works and what he brings to the table. He’s very knowledgeable, and he’s played a lot of football for us.”

Miller was the MVP of the A-Day spring football game with eight carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

Miller and the Crimson Tide will open the season Aug. 31 against Western Kentucky.
