Reward offered in solving Rains County death

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in a mysterious 2018 death in East Texas.

The Rains County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the May 4, 2018, death of a Chicago man who was visiting the Alba area. Dr. George Chronis, 57, was visiting his property at 169 Rains County Road 2410 off of Farm-to-Market Road 779, according to Lake Country Crime Stoppers.

An autopsy was performed and Chronis was listed as having died under undetermined circumstances, according to Lake Country Crime Stoppers.

The Rains County Sheriff’s Office said leads are being followed and asks anyone who may have heard something in connection with this case, witnessed anything or who may have been in the area of FM 779 and Rains County Road 2410 on May 4, 2018, between midnight and 5 a.m. to contact Lake Country Crime Stoppers at 903-885-2020.

Lake Country Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
