“For four years, he has lead our team in points per game, rebounds, steals and assists,” Big Sandy head coach Kerry Strong said. “We have known how special he is; I am glad the rest of the state finally realized it too. I personally know how rare it is to be fortunate to coach players like him.
“This year was extra special in my opinion because not only was he able to produce statistically, but he really grew as a teammate, and in turn the entire team took ownership, became involved, cared about one another and genuinely had a great time playing the game. Points, statistics, wins and losses come and go, but the relationship between these teammates is something that will last a lifetime. I am blessed and humbled to have been witness to not only Josiah’s greatness, but also his impact on creating a season, team and memories that I will never forget.”
Johnson will also compete in the TABC All-Star game May 17 in San Antonio.
Johnson will play at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma.
