Tyler ISD hires new director of Guidance and Counseling

Tyler ISD has hired a new director of Guidance and Counseling.

The hiring of Dr. Jennifer Jones was unanimously approved during the May Board of Trustees meeting on Monday.

Jones has more than 23 years of experience in K-12 and higher education and has held teaching roles in special education and visual arts. She also has served in administrative roles such as school counseling, testing coordinator, assistant principal, principal and superintendent.

She is an assistant professor and the superintendent program coordinator for the University of Texas at Tyler’s College of Education.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Educational Administration, Master of School Counseling and Doctorate of Education from Texas A&M University–Commerce.
