LIST: Community events, back-to-school supplies drives in Tyler area

As the back-to-school season gets closer, communities are helping students and families with events to provide essential supplies.
Nonprofit groups, schools and businesses are teaming to make sure every student is ready for the new school year. There are also fun activities and workshops planned to get everyone excited and connected, so make sure to check out the events around Tyler:
The City of Tyler’s 11th annual School is Cool event will take place on Aug. 1 from 4:30 — 7 p.m. at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center. This countywide back-to-school celebration and preparation event will offer parents and families a variety of services with local agencies.
JJO Charities‘ Stuff the Bus Drive will be held from Aug. 2 to Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Walmart in Lindale. The drive benefits PATH (People Attempting to Help) by collecting pantry items as well as back-to-school supplies.
The Fostering Collective will host a back-to-school bash on Aug. 2 from 5 — 7 p.m. at 1565 FM 2493 in Bullard. Join the nonprofit for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship and receive free school supplies. Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler will host a Back to School Fair on Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will offer well-child checkups, baby depot area, free backpacks and school supplies as well as a ton of family fun.
Kidpreneur Festival Expo will be held on Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pollard Park in Tyler. The back-to-school fundraiser will feature children showing off their creative venture from lemonade stands to handmade crafts and more. Donations support school supplies for local students.
The Glass Recreation Center, 501 W. 32nd St. in Tyler, is hosting a Back 2 School event on Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will have live music, free food, bounce houses and school supplies.
Par 5 Wraps & Signs will present a Back to School Festival on Aug. 3 from 10 a.m, to 4 p.m. at 6120 U.S. 69 N. in Tyler. The event will include free school supplies as well as bounce house, games, balloons and food vendors.
North Tenneha Church of Christ will host its first Back to School Bash on Aug. 3 from 2 – 4 p.m. at 1701 N. Tenneha Ave. in Tyler. Guests will receive free school supplies.
Chapel Hill ISD’s annual Back 2 School Expo will be held on Aug. 4 from 3 — 6 p.m at the high school. Register new and returning students, receive resources and take part in games.
RoseCity 1846 Apparel is hosting its third Back 2 School Bash on Aug. 4 from noon to 4 p.m. at Emmitt Scott Park in Tyler. Come out for free backpacks, school supplies and food and enjoy bounce houses and a live DJ.
The Issac Project’s Back to School Giving Event will take place on Aug. 8 from 5 — 8:30 p.m. at Nino’s Events Center at 102 S. Boon Ave. in Tyler. Come to receive free school supplies and check out mental health resources as well as suicide prevention and support and community connections. There will also be bounce houses, treats and crafts.
Tyler Med Center will host Customer Appreciation Day and a Back to School Celebration on Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 611 S. Beckham Ave. in Tyler. School supply bags will be given away to the first 50 children in attendance (must be present). There will be cookies and Popsicles for all as well as Ruby’s Food Truck.
Boost Mobile‘s Back to School event will be held on Aug. 9 from noon to 6 p.m. at the store at 1212 W. Bow St. in Tyler. The first 50 children will receive free backpacks. Attendees can also enter to win $40,000 in prizes.
Get ready for school with a Back to School Bash in Troup on Aug. 9 from 3 — 6 p.m. at 124 W. Duvall St. in Troup. Attendees can receive backpacks with school supplies, vendors and fun.
Join UT Tyler for the East Texas Back 2 School Veterans Resource Fair on Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come to the university’s center ballroom to gather information on VLB programs for land, home, and state veterans homes, as well as TVC resources for claims, employment, and healthcare. Attendees can also participate in a Back to School Supply Drive for military children.
Join the nonprofit Suitcase for Life with a back-to-school bash on Aug. 11 from 1 — 5 p.m. at 2000 W. Gentry Pkwy in Tyler. The event will have entertainment, food and a backpack giveaway.
903 Cutz will offer haircuts and backpacks on Aug. 11 at 9 a.m. The first 50 children will receive free haircuts along with a free backpack. The next 50 will receive a backpack after their paid haircuts.
