Mason appointed to state board

Orenthia Mason, of Tyler, has been appointed to the board of directors of Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Mason, director of alumni affairs at Texas College, serves as pastor of the St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and chair of the Central Texas Region Joint Board of Finance.

She spent 27 years in the Tyler Independent School District working as a teacher, administrator and board member. Her honors include Outstanding Community Service, Outstanding Woman in Tyler, Outstanding Commitment to Black History and Leadership Tyler’s Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient.

The statewide organization’s board of directors is comprised of 32 civic and academic leaders, six of whom are appointed by the governor.

Roddy named

Heritage Land Bank has named Gene Roddy vice president and branch manager of the Tyler location, 4608 Kinsey Drive.

Roddy will provide lending support for real estate and commercial customers, and cultivate relationships with agricultural producers, rural land owners and business leaders.

He previously was an appraiser for the Smith County Appraisal District.

Roddy received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.

Petroleum Landmen elect officers

The East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen recently elected 2019-2020 officers and board of directors members.

Officers elected include President Michael Sturrock, CPL; First Vice President Bryan Irwin, CPL; Second Vice President Loren Bennett; Secretary Don Garrett; Treasurer Melissa Grimes, RPL; AAPL Director Kevin Halbert, CPL; and Past President Patrick Cooper, RPL.

Second-year board of directors are Lucy Wathen, CPL; Bonnie Palmer, RPL; Casey Oland, CPL; and Scott Sawyer. Trey Carlisle was elected to the only open spot on the board.

The ETAPL is a nonprofit, professional organization that supports the landman profession.
