White Oak’s Daniels, Rains’ Oakes, Troup’s Gillispie earn honors

LONGVIEW — White Oak’s Larkin Daniels earned first team honors as a pitcher on Tuesday with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Softball Team.

Rains’ Cambree Oakes was a second team selection as a pitcher.
Troup’s Taylor Gillispie was a third team selection as a pitcher, and multiple players from around the area earned honorable mention honors.
The team was selected by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members from around the state.
Daniels, who signed with East Texas Baptist University prior to the 2024 season, carved out a 28-8 record in the circle with a 1.27 earned run average, 438 strikeouts and 61 walks.
At the dish, Daniels hit .330 with two home runs, 10 doubles and 25 RBI.
Oakes went 30-5-1 with a 1.45 ERA and 276 strikeouts. She also hit .432 with 12 home runs, 17 doubles, four triples and 50 RBIs.

Gillispie went 14-3 in the circle with a 0.69 ERA, 199 strikeouts and 38 walks in 91.1 innings pitched. She also hit .449 with a home run, four triples, 11 doubles, 20 RBI and 19 stolen bases.
Earning honorable mention status from the area were Grand Saline pitcher Hannah Aaron, Hughes Springs pitcher Addysyn Billings, Troup catcher Bailey Blanton, Rains catcher Emma Knight, Grand Saline first baseman Gracie Jo Currey, Edgewood first baseman Emma Robertson, West Rusk first baseman Krysten Price, Grand Saline shortstop Alissa Fugate, White Oak shortstop Addison McClanahan, Daingerfield shortstop Jaycee Satterfield, New Diana shortstop Taryn Reece, Troup shortstop Shiloh Sluder, Edgewood shortstop Trinity Hale, Rains third baseman Presley Kilgore, Edgewood outfielder Gracie Cates, New Diana outfielders Ava Smith and Avery Howard, Daingerfield outfielder Chrishlyn Boyd, Eustace utility player Madilyn Andrews, New Diana utility player Chloe Green and Hughes Springs utility player Maggie Pate.
Coahoma teammates Hannah Wells and Mia Clemmer shared Player of the Year honors, and state champ Coahoma made it a clean sweep of top honors with head coach Alexander Orosco being named Coach of the Year.
Coahoma finished the season with a 32-0 record, defeating Whitesboro (10-9) in the state semifinals and winning the title with a 3-2 victory over Grandview.
Wells, a University of Texas commit, was 20-0 in the circle, including both wins at the state tournament. She had a 0.82 earned run average and struck out 157 in 93 innings while also hitting .701 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles, four triples and 57 RBI.
Clemmer, a catcher, hit .642 with 13 home runs, 14 doubles, two triples and 52 RBI.
