Hollytree Golf: John McKinley wins Seniors, David Bridges leads championship flight which includes Paul and Johnny Manziel

John McKinley won his third consecutive Seniors title, David Bridges leads the Championship flight and Johnny Football is on the links after Saturday’s play in the Hollytree Club Golf Championship at Hollytree Country Club.
Bridges, after firing a 3-under 69 on Friday, carded a 74 in the second-round for a 36-hole total of 1-under 143, two strokes ahead of two-time winner Paul Manziel (73-72). Jerry Hudgins is third at 146 (75-71). Mike Custer (72-77) and Trey Brooks (76-73) are tied for fourth at 149. James Mills is sixth at 152 (77-75).
Hudgins was the only golfer under par in the second round with a 1-under 71.
Paul’s son Johnny, who won the 2012 Heisman Trophy while at Texas A&M, has a score of 153 (78-75). He is tied with Drew Gillen (77-76) for seventh. Paul Manziel won back-to-back HTCC titles in 2004 and 2005.
There are 24 players in the Championship Flight.
Defending champion Reggie Howell, a four-time winner, passed away in January.
The championship flight plays 54 holes with all other flights 36 holes. The final round is Sunday.
McKinley, who has now won 10 seniors titles, had consecutive rounds of 78 for a total of 156 to win by one stroke over John McDaniel (80-77—157). Richard Wilson was third at 161 (81-80).
McDaniel and Wilson tied for the Senior Net championship with Robert Greening third.
The Seniors Flight is for golfers 55 and over, although they can elect to play in the other flights, Hollytree pro Scott Warner said.
Other flight leaders include: Jeff Cotten and Jace Foster (First Flight), Terry Blevins (Second Flight), Tom Stanfield (Third Flight) and Brad Barton (Fourth Flight).
Cotten and Foster fired 78s in the First Flight. Chris Phillips is third with a 79. Brandon Johnston and Bill Tankersley are tied for fourth with 81s.
Blevins carded a 79 with John Hammond at 82 in the Second Flight. Jeff Denson, Thomas Perry and Erik Struck are tied for third with 85s.
Stanfield tops the Third Flight with a 76, followed by Shane Norwood (79).
Barton’s 90 leads the Fourth Flight. Travis Hunt (94) and Jay Pirtle (96) and follow.
