Business Briefs: VeraBank, Brookshire’s announce promotions

Todd Engemoen was unanimously voted to the board of directors at VeraBank at a recent meeting, according to a news release from the company.
Engemoen has been with VeraBank since 2014 and is currently serving as chief financial officer.
“Todd’s extensive knowledge in finance and impressive display of leadership over the years has earned him this position,” said Brad Tidwell, president and CEO of VeraBank. “I’m confident he’ll be a great asset to the board as we move the bank into the future.”
Engemoen, who holds chartered financial analyst accreditation, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and also holds an MBA with a concentration in finance, both from the University of Texas at Austin.
“It’s truly an honor to have been elected to the VeraBank board of directors. The board has provided stability and guidance to VeraBank for the past 90 years that has served as the backbone of our company. I’m privileged to work alongside our directors as we continue to seek ways to best serve our customers, employees, shareholders and communities,” Engemoen said.
VeraBank, formerly Citizens National Bank, is based in Henderson.
Brookshire’s promotes TWO to vice president
Brookshire Grocery Co. recently announced the promotions of Suzanne Osbourn and Jason Cooper.
Osbourn was named vice president-partner relations and development, and Cooper is now vice president-corporate development and real estate.
Osbourn is a 36-year BGC employee who has led employee relations since 2016, most recently as director. She now leads the newly consolidated areas of partner relations, benefits and training and development. She began her career in 1983 as a cashier in a Brookshire’s store in Greenville. In 2011, Progressive Grocer recognized Osbourn as a rising star in the retail grocery industry and featured her in a special edition as one of the Top Women in Grocery.
Cooper is a Tyler native who has been with the company 21 years, serving as director of business development since April 2018. His areas of responsibility include real estate, government relations, compliance and food safety. Cooper serves on the boards of various retail associations in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, as well as on committees for the National Grocers Association and Food Marketing Institute. He is a member of UT Tyler’s Business Advisory Council and the Tyler Economic Development Council board of directors.
