For the first time, the Associated Press Texas high school football poll will no longer be administered, but there will still be a ranking of teams.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine will take over the process and the poll will be published each week during the regular season, beginning next week, the AP announced. What will be different this year is that the 5A through 2A schools will have rankings in both Division I and II instead of all divisions grouped together.

Greg Tepper, Texas Football managing editor, said the poll will include for the first time Class 1A (six-man) divisions, plus a top five Private 11-man and a top five Private six-man.

In conjunction with Jerry Forrest at PigskinPrep.com, Texas Football’s unveiled its preseason rankings in the magazine.

Several East Texas teams are in the Top 10, including John Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Carthage, Henderson, Gilmer, Malakoff, Gladewater and Daingerfield, among others.
