Tyler Junior College has broken another enrollment record.

The college said it has reached a new milestone with 12,585 students enrolled for the fall 2019 semester.

That’s a 2.6 percent increase from TJC’s historic fall enrollment of 12,270 students in 2018.

Enrollment has risen 15 percent from 10,934 in 2015 to the current total of 12,585 students.

“This fall 2019 semester, we are provided the opportunity to help 12,585 students reach their academic and workforce aspirations and goals, and I am privileged to work with faculty and staff who are caring and who are committed to student success,” TJC President Dr. Juan Mejia said.

“We are excited about each of our 3,210 first-time in college students, who we know are more talented and high-achieving than ever before,” said Kim Lessner, TJC vice president for marketing and enrollment services and chief communications officer.

“However, we are especially thrilled that our continuing population of students has increased by more than 11 percent, which means we have more students who are still on track toward their goals. This is a testament to TJC’s dedication to helping students on their paths to success.”

Mejia added that an educated population brings about positive change and he hopes to see continued collaboration with the community to drive economic growth and keep unemployment numbers low.
