Former Trump communications adviser to speak in Tyler
Grassroots America’s Champions of Freedom Awards dinner is set for 5 p.m. Friday in the Constellation Ballroom at Holiday Inn-South Broadway, 5701 S. Broadway Ave., Tyler.
Dinner and the program will begin at 6 p.m.
Grassroots America is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The Champions of Freedom Awards dinner recognizes excellence in leadership from conservative grassroots activists.
Keynote speaker will be Mercedes Schlapp, who served from September 2017 to July 2019 as the Trump administration’s White House director of strategic communications. Since July, Schlapp has worked on the Trump 2020 re-election campaign as a senior adviser to the president.

Firefighters group endorses
Don Warren for Tyler mayor
Justin Dominy, president of the Tyler Professional Fire Fighters Association, released the following statement:
“Tyler firefighters support Tyler City Councilman Don Warren for mayor. Councilman Warren has earned the endorsement of the Tyler Professional Fire Fighters Association by standing strong for fiscal responsibility and the public safety needs of Tyler.
