WINNSBORO — Kamora Jackson scored 12 points to help the John Tyler Lady Lions to a 39-15 win over Alba-Golden on Friday during the second day of the Winnsboro Hoopfest presented by Team Worldwide.
The Lady Lions (4-8) will play for the consolation title at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Others scoring for JT were Makia Moon (8), Kirsten Ross (5), Errian Johnson (4), Jay’Mariea Taylor (4), Shiriah Mitchell (2), Corianna Lewis (2) and Ellyse Daye (2).
Tyler Lee 57, Dallas Pinkston 46
ROYSE CITY — The Tyler Lee Lady Raiders improved to 7-4 on the season with a 57-46 win over Dallas Pinkston on Friday in the Craig Bowers Memorial Basketball Tournament at Royse City High School.
Martin’s Mill 63, Brownsboro 36
BROWNSBORO — In a matchup of East Texas powerhouses, Class 2A No. 1 Martin’s Mill defeated Class 4A No. 13 Brownsboro 63-36 on Friday in a non-district girls basketball game.
The Lady Mustangs improve to 14-0 with the Bearettes falling to 11-3.
Abbie Orrick led Martin’s Mill with 24 points. She was followed by Jada Celsur (17), Jessie Camacho (9), Kenzie Cross (5), Kalie Dunavant (5) and Mia Nixon (3).
Kentoya Woods led Brownsboro with 16 point and Paris Miller adding 10. Others scoring for the Bearettes were Mekhayia Moore (6) and Shakayla Warren (4).
Brownsboro is scheduled to play at Lindale on Monday before hosting the Great East Texas Shootout Dec. 12-14.
Martin’s Mill is scheduled to host Class No. 20 Winnsboro on Tuesday.
Christian Heritage Tournament
LONGVIEW — LoriAnn Tiemann hit for 15 points to help pace the Tyler HEAT to a 42-22 win over Mount Enterprise on Friday in the semifinals of the Longview Christian Heritage Basketball Tournament.
The HEAT (7-4) will face the host Sentinels in the finals at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Others scoring for the HEAT were Ryan Kirksey (8), Elana Gonzalez (6), Bonnie Taylor (4), Kate Thoams (4), Emily Gonzalez (3) and Anna Thomas (2).
ATHENS INVITATIONAL
Chapel Hill wins two
ATHENS — The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs won two games on Friday in the Athens Invitational to reach the consolation finals. They beat Palestine Westwood 57-22 and Arp 46-18.
The consolation final is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the new arena on the Athens High School campus.
In the win over Westwood, D.J. Kincade and Ty’Liyah Moore each hit for 12 points. Others scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Alexia Rogers (8), Tierney Minor (6), Kylei Griffin (6), Shelbee Denson (6), Jenea Travier (4), Brittley Maddox (2) and Kya Cook (1).
Against Arp it was another balanced scoring game for the Lady Bulldogs, led by Denson (9), Kincade (8) and Travier (7). Also scoring for CH were Griffin (6), Moore (6), Tally Overshown (3), Maddox (3), Minor (2) and Rogers (2).
Canton Splits Pair
WINNSBORO — The Canton Eaglettes split a pair of games on Thursday in the Winnsboro Hoopfest.
Canton won over Richardson JJ Pearce in the first round, 44-25. The Eaglettes fell to Texas High, 56-51 in the second game.
In the win over Pearce, Olivia Norrell hit for 10 points. She was followed by Kori Nicklas (8), Shameir Quimby (8), Kayden Prox (7), Averie Cantrell (4), Darby Pruitt (3), Ashley Riffe (2) and Amari Welch (2).
Against Texas High, Norrell led the Eaglettes with 22 points while Prox added 15. Riffe pitched in eight with Quimby and Welch adding four and two points, respectively.
Mount Vernon 60, Pine Tree 23
WINNSBORO — The middle two quarters proved to be the downfall for Pine Tree in a 60-23 loss to Mount Vernon.
McKenzie Kirk had six points and D’Karia Woodard five for Pine Tree, which went into the second quarter tied at 11-11 before being outscored 40-5 over the next 16 minutes.
Bullard 54, Timpson 48, 4 OTs
TIMPSON — It took four overtimes, but the Bullard Lady Panthers scored a 54-48 win over Timpson on Tuesday in a girls basketball game.
Haley Day led the 11-1 Lady Panthers with 24 points. Others scoring for Bullard were Keili Richmond (10), Hailey Minton (9), Erin Berry (9) and Lamaria Thompson (2).
Christian Heritage Tournament
Tyler HEAT takes two
The Tyler HEAT scored two wins in the Christian Heritage Tournament on Thursday.
The Tyler squad won 50-24 over New Summerfield. Ryan Kirksey led the HEAT with 14 points. She was followed by LoriAnn Tiemann (8), Abigail Drewett (7), Kate Thomas (6), Emily Gonzalez (5), Tanea Thompson (5), Bonnie Taylor (3) and Whitney Worley (2).
In the quarterfinals, the Tyler HEAT downed Austin Regents 56-9. Kirksey, Elana Gonzalez and Worley each scored 12 points. Others scoring for the Tyler team were Thomas (6), Thompson (5), Tiemann (5) Taylor (2) and Drewett (2).
SPRING HILL
Jefferson 53, Sabine 51
LONGVIEW — Mackenzie Jordan led three Lady Bulldogs into double figures with 15 points, and Jefferson held on for a 53-51 win over Sabine.
Jordan also had nine rebounds for Jefferson. Tierrani Johnson finished with 14 points and four steals, Jaden Carter 10 points, Ja’Kayla Rusk seven points, Nia Garrett six points and seven assists and Da’Navia Thomas one point.
Mallory Furrh had 12 points, six assists, six rebounds and two steals in the loss for Sabine. Mikinzi Cantrell finished with 11 points, two assists, two steals and three rebounds, Hailey Davis seven points, Mercedes Willett six points and 10 rebounds, Halyn McKenzie five points, seven rebounds and two assists, Blaire Kaufman five points, four steals and five rebounds and Maddie Furrh five points and two rebounds.
MP CHAPEL HILL TOURNAMENT
Carthage splits pair
MOUNT PLEASANT — The Carthage Lady Bulldogs defeated Whitehouse (56-33) and fell to Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (64-41) on Thursday.
Zee McGrue had 15 points and Jada McLin six in the win over Whitehouse. Carthage led 14-10 after one quarter and took control with a 17-3 run in the second stanza.
Against MPCH, McGrue had 16 points, Makhai Lewis 12 and McLin nine.
Kilgore wins two
MOUNT PLEASANT — The Kilgore Lady Bulldogs defeated Cooper (51-42) and Leonard (52-41) in tournament action on Thursday.
Miah Thomas had 26 points and six rebounds, A.T. Anderson eight points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals and Jada Abercrombie six points and eight rebounds against Cooper.
Abercrombie, Thomas and Anderson all had double-doubles in the win over Leonard. Abercrombie finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, Thomas 12 points, 10 rebounds and three steals and Anderson 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Hughes Springs Tournament
Harmony takes two
HUGHES SPRINGS — The Harmony Lady Eagles earned a pair of wins on Thursday at the Hughes Springs Tournament, knocking off Linden-Kildare (52-11) and Hughes Springs (31-18).
Kinzee Settles had 10 points and 10 rebounds, Lanie Trimbles 10 points and three rebounds and Macey Russell nine points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Linden-Kildare. Madi Rhame finished with seven points, three steals and two assists, Kaylee Clemens six points, three steals and four assists, Katelyn Welborn four points and three rebounds, Lillie Jones four points, three rebounds, four steals and two assists and Jenci Seahorn two points, four rebounds and two steals.
Against Hughes Springs, Settles had nine points, six rebounds and three steals, Trimble six points, two rebounds and two steals, Seahorn five points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals, Clemens five points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals, Welborn four points and two rebounds and Dacey Dawson two points, two rebounds and three steals.
The Lady Eagles didn’t allow double digits in points in eight full quarters on Thursday.
In other tournament action, it was Elysian Fields 44, Harleton 36; Hughes Springs 39, Pittsburg JV 17; White Oak 46, Linden-Kildare 16; Elysian Fields 34, White Oak 31 and Harleton 47, Pittsburg JV 14.
Harmony split a couple of games on Friday — defeating Harleton 44-24, but falling to Elysian Fields 27-23.
Against Harleton, Settles led the way with 21 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Others contributing to the Lady Eagles’ win were Trimble (9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), Dawson (6 points, 4 assists), Katelyn Welborn (3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist), Madi Rhame (2 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks), Clemens (2 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals. 2 assist, 1 block) and Seahorn (1 point, 3 rebounds).
In the loss to Elysian Fields, Settles hit for 12 points while grabbing six rebounds and getting three steals.
Others competing for Harmony were Dawson (5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal), Welborn (4 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 block), Trimble (2 points, 1 assist), Rhame (7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block) and Clemens (3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals).
Redwater Tournament
Pittsburg 59, Arkansas High 49
REDWATER — McKenna Wood and Tyler Green dropped in 17 points apiece, Elyssia Lemelle (11) and Sanaa Hollins (10) joined them in double figures and Pittsburg picked up a 59-49 win over Arkansas High.
Kianna Blackwell finished with four points and Natalie Styles added two for Pittsburg, which led 23-11 after one quarter and 35-19 at the half.
