Boys Soccer Notebook: Lindale’s Seth Baggett, Sabine’s Francisco Perez take weekly honors

Lindale’s Seth Baggett and Sabine’s Francisco “Panchio” Perez have earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Boys Soccer Player of the Week honors for games played Feb. 24-March 1.
Baggett scored six goals in a 7-2 win over Cumberland Academy.
Perez had five goals and two assists in an 8-0 win over Carthage. For the season, Perez has 24 goals and seven assists, and he has 13 goals and five assists in district play.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Brook Hill’s Enrico Gilberti scored three goals in the regional final to lead the Guard back to the state final four after winning a state title last season.
Palestine’s Mario Escalante had three goals and two assists in a 6-2 win over Hudson, and he also had a goal and an assist in a 7-1 win over Crockett. Ismael Gonzalez scored three goals, and Seby Ledesma had two goals and three assists.
In the Lethal Soccer State Rankings, Tyler Legacy is No. 7 in Class 6A; and Kilgore No. 3, Palestine No. 8 and Pine Tree No. 18 in Class 4A.
