TYLER — Linda Gayle Edwards, born to Earl and Billie Pippin Edwards on November 28, 1946 in Emory, TX passed away on July 26, 2024.
Linda grew up the oldest of five siblings in Greenville, Texas and graduated from Greenville High School. She attended East Texas State University, Tyler Junior College and East Texas Police Academy. She retired from Law Enforcement having served as a reserve police officer for Mineola PD, Smith and Wood County Sheriff’s Department; Assistant Jail Administrator of Wood County and Correctional Officer for Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Amarillo and Winnsboro.
She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings. She is survived by her daughter Kelley Walker; her daughter and son-in-law Craig and Tracey Williams; her daughter Holley Stiefer; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and many friends, especially from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception where she was a member and an Associate with the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and strength (sprinkled with a sense of humor and strong will).
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on South Broadway Ave. in Tyler, TX. Interment of her ashes will occur on a later date at Shady Grove Cemetery of Greenville, TX where she will be laid to rest near her mother and other family members.
